PUTRAJAYA, 25 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) has expressed its support for Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia’s (UTHM) efforts to strengthen alumni networks and strategic ties among higher education institutions through the UTHM RE:CONNECT 2026 mission.
The initiative, themed “Menjejak Alumni, Menghubungkan Legasi”, is being held in conjunction with the National Month celebrations and features the Merdeka Ride – MTUN Alumni Circuit, bringing together 33 alumni motorcycle riders.
Higher Education Minister YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir met and interacted with participants before KPT Secretary-General YBhg. Datuk Ts. Dr. Haji Aminuddin Hassim officiated the convoy’s departure at the ministry today.
The four-day, three-night journey from 24 to 27 August 2026 will travel across several locations in Peninsular Malaysia, with the 33 riders symbolising UTHM’s 33-year journey and legacy.
Beyond the motorcycle convoy, the initiative serves as a platform for UTHM to reconnect with its alumni while strengthening networks with other institutions, particularly those within the Malaysian Technical Universities Network (MTUN).
Through Alumni Meet & Greet sessions held throughout the tour, UTHM is also seeking to identify alumni who can contribute as mentors, subject matter experts, industry panel members and strategic partners to support student career development and expand university-industry collaboration.

The approach is in line with KPT’s aspiration to strengthen the role of alumni within the higher education ecosystem by leveraging their expertise, experience and networks to support universities, students and the wider community.
The initiative also highlights how national spirit can be expressed beyond celebrations and symbols, through volunteerism, community networks and the willingness of the higher education community to contribute to institutions and the country.
Following the departure from KPT, the convoy proceeded to Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) before continuing its journey to several other higher education institutions, carrying the National Month message of unity, togetherness and service.
Also present were Deputy Director-General of Higher Education (Governance and Development), Department of Higher Education Ts. Dr. Noraisah Spahat; UTHM Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ts. Dr. Mas Fawzi Mohd Ali; and members of the UTHM management.
