Malaysia, Thailand Strengthen Media And Communications Cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, 15 May 2026 (The Capital Post)Fahmi Fadzil attended a luncheon hosted by Thailand’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Lada Phumas, at the official residence of the Thai ambassador today.

According to information shared on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Komunikasi, the meeting served as a platform to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and Thailand, particularly in the fields of information, media and communications.

Among the key matters discussed were online safety, the protection of children in cyberspace especially on social media platforms, Malaysia’s organisation of National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA), as well as the role of both countries within ASEAN in advancing journalists’ capacity-building efforts more effectively.

Fahmi also shared updates on the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) initiative and the implementation of 5G in Malaysia following Thailand’s interest in understanding the country’s approach and progress in expanding nationwide connectivity.

Also present were Bernama chief executive officer, Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin; Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission deputy managing director (Regulatory), Mohamed Sulaiman Sultan Suhaibuddeen; and Ministry of Communications Policy and International Division undersecretary, Zarina Zakaria. – The Capital Post
