KUALA LUMPUR, 18 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and DHL Express have renewed their strategic partnership to strengthen the export readiness and global competitiveness of Malaysian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The collaboration, formalised through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), will continue the ‘Trade and Grow Beyond Borders’ programme, providing MATRADE-registered companies with training and practical guidance to help them expand into international markets.

The programme combines online learning with in-person workshops led by DHL Express specialists and industry partners, covering areas such as e-commerce, financing, marketing, logistics, customs compliance and sustainable business growth.

The initiative supports MATRADE’s 2026 roadmap to encourage Malaysian businesses to diversify into high-growth markets, including ASEAN, South Asia, Central Asia and Africa, amid evolving global trade challenges.

MATRADE Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Abu Bakar Yusof said strengthening MSME capabilities and integration into global value chains remains a key priority, particularly as exporters navigate changing tariff policies, supply chain disruptions and rising freight costs.

He said the renewed partnership with DHL Express would equip Malaysian businesses with the knowledge and confidence needed to seize new opportunities while building greater resilience in international markets.

DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei Managing Director Julian Neo said the company’s global trade expertise enables it to support MSMEs in expanding their commercial reach and contribute to more inclusive economic growth.

He added that the long-standing collaboration with MATRADE demonstrates the value of public-private partnerships in helping local businesses succeed internationally.

Since the partnership began in 2022, the joint programme has attracted nearly 700 participants across multiple states, while seven Malaysian MSMEs were selected for the DHL GoTrade GBSN Fellowship, which pairs businesses with postgraduate students for mentoring and knowledge sharing.

The collaboration also culminated in the DHL GoTrade Summit 2025, which was held outside Germany for the first time in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship. – The Capital Post.
