KUALA LUMPUR, 2 August (The Capital Post) – The fourth cohort of the Digital Leadership Excellence (DLE) Programme, jointly organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia), has concluded with 66 senior leaders completing a six-day industrial immersion programme in China.
The latest cohort brings the total number of programme graduates to 242, moving the initiative closer to its target of developing at least 300 senior digital leaders by the end of 2026.
Launched in 2024, the DLE Programme graduated 50 participants in its inaugural cohort, followed by 60 in the second cohort and 66 in the third. The fifth and final cohort is scheduled to commence in July as part of the programme’s national capacity-building objective.
The fourth cohort comprised senior leaders from government agencies, industry and academic institutions, fostering collaboration across sectors. The programme is designed to bring together policymakers, regulators, enforcement agencies, academia and industry leaders to strengthen cross-sector cooperation in addressing Malaysia’s evolving digital challenges.
Huawei Malaysia Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications and Board Director, Eric Du, said the continued collaboration between MCMC and Huawei Malaysia reflects a shared commitment to nurturing future-ready leaders and advancing the nation’s digital transformation agenda.
He said the programme equips Malaysian leaders with the knowledge and practical insights needed to translate digital opportunities into meaningful outcomes for their organisations while contributing to the country’s long-term digital development.
The fourth cohort completed a four-month blended learning curriculum featuring instructor-led modules, peer learning and applied project work focused on artificial intelligence (AI), 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT). The programme concluded with an industrial immersion in China, where participants visited research and innovation facilities and observed large-scale digital infrastructure and governance practices.

Participants also developed capstone projects aligned with the national priorities outlined under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), including digital transformation, AI adoption and innovation, digital talent development, and building a resilient digital economy.
The projects covered practical applications such as AI-driven disaster resilience, a unified public complaints platform, food intelligence and security, traffic data services, healthcare delivery and crisis-resilient infrastructure for micro-entrepreneurs.
Royal Malaysia Police Head of Digital Forensic, ACP Muhammad Zulkifly Mohd Isa, described the programme as an eye-opening experience that broadened his leadership perspective and inspired him to contribute more effectively towards Malaysia’s digital future.
Meanwhile, MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd Chief Commercial Officer, Ganendra Selvaraj, said participating in the DLE Programme was both a privilege and a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge with leaders from diverse sectors while gaining insights into Huawei’s digital transformation journey.
The DLE Programme was launched in response to Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s call for stronger digital leadership during the 2023 Malaysia ICT Summit hosted by Huawei Malaysia.
