MOHE Strengthens Strategic Industry Collaboration with US-ASEAN Business Council

PUTRAJAYA, 12 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) is strengthening strategic cooperation and industry relations with the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) to support the transformation agenda of Malaysia’s higher education sector.

According to information shared on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir received a courtesy visit from a US-ABC delegation led by its president and chief executive officer Brian D. McFeeters.

The meeting served as a strategic platform to enhance synergy between the government and United States multinational companies in supporting talent development and innovation-driven economic growth.

Among the key topics discussed were high-impact talent development, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) transformation, public-private partnerships (PPP), digital transformation and the green economy.

During the session, Zambry reaffirmed MOHE’s commitment to ensuring graduates are equipped with a combination of technical expertise and sustainable digital capabilities to face the challenges of the global economy.

The ministry also welcomed the involvement of US companies in developing structured talent pipelines through industrial training and apprenticeship programmes, co-designed curriculum development and Train-the-Trainer initiatives aimed at strengthening lecturers’ competencies.

Special focus was given to high-value sectors such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductors, aerospace and green technology in line with Malaysia’s aspiration to become a high-income and innovation-driven nation.

The discussion also reflected MOHE’s continued efforts to ensure the country’s higher education ecosystem remains dynamic and responsive to global investment needs.

Representatives from several multinational companies including Apple, Abbott, Boeing, IBM, Micron Technology and Moody’s also participated in the session.

Also present were MOHE secretary-general Datuk Ts Dr Haji Aminuddin Hassim and senior ministry officials. – The Capital Post
