KUALA LUMPUR, 16 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration between academia and industry through the Industry Monitoring, Engagement & Collaboration (IMEC) Series 3 programme.
The programme, organised by the Faculty of Hospitality, Tourism and Wellness (FHPK) of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), was officially launched by MOTAC Secretary-General Dato’ Shaharuddin Abu Sohot.
According to a Facebook post by Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya Malaysia, IMEC Series 3 serves as a strategic platform to bridge the gap between higher education institutions and industry players, particularly in the tourism, hospitality and wellness sectors.
The initiative focuses on strengthening human capital development, expanding smart partnerships and enhancing graduate employability to meet the evolving needs of the industry.

In line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI and the National Tourism Policy 2020–2030, MOTAC said it remains committed to fostering stronger tripartite cooperation involving the government, universities and industry stakeholders.
The ministry said the collaboration is crucial in nurturing competitive local talent, driving innovation and building a sustainable tourism industry.
MOTAC expressed hope that IMEC Series 3 would serve as a catalyst for more strategic partnerships, contributing to economic growth while supporting the success of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign. – The Capital Post
