Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Out-of-Control SUV in Petaling Jaya

Petaling Jaya 6 May 2026 (The Capital Post) – A tragic road accident in Petaling Jaya claimed the life of a young motorcyclist after his bike was struck head-on by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) that had veered out of control.

The fatal incident occurred at approximately 1:45pm along Jalan 17/21, according to Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the SUV, a grey Proton X70 driven by a man in his 70s, lost control while travelling along the road before skidding into the opposite lane. The vehicle then collided directly with an oncoming motorcycle ridden by a local man in his 20s.

The impact of the crash caused severe injuries to the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.

Authorities said the driver of the SUV did not sustain serious injuries, and police have since launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, including whether road conditions, mechanical issues, or driver-related factors contributed to the loss of control.

The case is currently being investigated under relevant traffic laws, and police are urging any witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation.
