SEREMBAN 29 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Negri Sembilan executive council proceeded with its scheduled meeting today despite the ongoing political uncertainty surrounding the state administration following the withdrawal of support by several Barisan Nasional assemblymen.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the state government remains focused on ensuring daily administration and public programmes continue without disruption, stressing that governance responsibilities must carry on as normal during the current situation.

According to Aminuddin, he had earlier sought an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan before chairing the exco meeting at Wisma Negri. He said the ruler advised the state government to maintain stability and prioritise programmes and services benefiting the rakyat.

The meeting reportedly focused on administrative matters and the continuation of upcoming state initiatives, including preparations for the national-level Youth Day celebration scheduled for May. Vacant exco positions left following the political fallout were not formally discussed during the session.

The political crisis intensified after 14 Umno and Barisan Nasional assemblymen withdrew support for Aminuddin’s leadership earlier this week, reducing the Pakatan Harapan-led administration to a minority government in the 36-seat state assembly.

Despite calls from opposition figures for a special state assembly sitting to determine the Menteri Besar’s majority support, Aminuddin maintained that any further action would depend on constitutional procedures and royal consent. He also reiterated that he would continue carrying out his duties until a final decision is reached by the state ruler and party leadership.

Political observers believe the situation could shape the future direction of Negri Sembilan’s administration, although the state government has insisted that public services and development programmes will continue uninterrupted throughout the uncertainty. -The Capital Post
