IPOH: The duty-free zone in Pangkor Island does not include the mainland in Manjung, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.The Perak Mentri Besar said a discussion was held between the state administration and the Finance Ministry to talk about making Pangkor duty-free, but never mentioned about making the mainland as part of the free-duty status area.

“There were rumours that the mainland would also be part of Pangkor Island duty-free zone, but I would like to stress that this is not true,” he said when replying to a question by Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir (BN-Pangkor) at the state assembly sitting on Friday (Nov 22).

The duty-free status for Pangkor was first announced by the Federal Government, then under Barisan Nasional during the tabling of Budget 2018 in Parliament. -The Star
