Pesona Destar 2026 Showcases Malaysia’s Rich Traditional Headgear Heritage

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – Pesona Destar 2026 celebrated Malaysia’s diverse cultural heritage by highlighting the artistry and significance of traditional headgear from communities across the country.

The programme was officially launched by Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and Strategic Planning) of the Ministry of National Unity, Mohamad Sobri Mat Daud.

The event showcased the uniqueness of the destar, a traditional Malay headgear, while also featuring the various styles of traditional headgear and decorative headpieces of the Orang Asli community as well as ethnic groups in Sabah and Sarawak.

The ministry said the inclusive approach reflects Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity, while promoting mutual respect, unity and appreciation of the nation’s multicultural heritage in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Perpaduan Negara, the programme aims to preserve and promote Malaysia’s traditional cultural heritage while fostering greater understanding among the country’s diverse communities. – The Capital Post.
