Petaling Jaya 23 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – Police have dismantled an illicit cigarette syndicate following a raid in Seri Kembangan that led to the seizure of contraband cigarettes valued at approximately RM1.02 million.
The operation, carried out under Ops Taring Alpha 1, targeted a residential property believed to be used as a storage and distribution hub. Authorities discovered 5,111 cartons of illegal cigarettes hidden across multiple areas of the house, including living spaces and storage sections.
Three local men aged between 34 and 43 were arrested during the raid. Investigators believe the group was involved in a wider network distributing illicit cigarettes within the Klang Valley and potentially beyond.
Police said the crackdown has significantly disrupted the syndicate’s operations, which were linked to the storage, sale and movement of duty-unpaid tobacco products.
