Kyiv 23 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has cautioned that a prolonged conflict involving Iran could increase the risk of Ukraine facing difficulties in securing critical missile defence systems needed for its ongoing war effort.

In remarks reported during an interview, Zelenskiy said that while current military assistance to Ukraine has not been disrupted, the longer the conflict in the Middle East continues, the greater the strain on global supplies of advanced air defence systems, particularly those produced by the United States.

He noted that systems such as Patriot missiles are produced in limited quantities, and rising demand due to escalating tensions elsewhere could affect future deliveries to Ukraine, which relies heavily on such equipment to defend against aerial attacks.

Zelenskiy also highlighted that Ukraine is seeking to strengthen its international defence partnerships, including cooperation with Middle Eastern countries, by sharing its expertise in countering drone and missile threats developed during its conflict with Russia.

The warning comes as global military resources face increasing pressure amid multiple conflicts, raising concerns over the allocation of defence supplies and the ability of nations to maintain adequate protection systems.

Zelenskiy stressed the importance of sustained international support for Ukraine, warning that shifting global priorities could have long-term implications for the country’s security.-The Capital Post
