KUCHING, 31 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The National Science Week (MSN) 2026 Carnival for the Sarawak Zone has officially launched the nationwide Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) outreach series, drawing more than 8,000 visitors over its first two days at the Sarawak Science Centre Interactive Experience (SSCiEX).
The carnival, held from 29 to 30 July, showcased a wide range of interactive STEM activities aimed at promoting science and innovation among communities across the state.
On 29 July, a key milestone in Sarawak’s STI ecosystem was marked with the official opening of the Sarawak Science Centre Interactive Experience (SSCiEX) by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Openg.
The following day, Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn officiated the launch of the MSN 2026 Sarawak Zone Carnival. The event was also attended by MOSTI Secretary-General Dato’ Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, Deputy Secretary-General (Science Planning and Culture) Dato’ Ruziah Shafei, MySains partners, industry representatives, higher education institutions and strategic partners.

Visitors enjoyed a variety of programmes, including interactive STEM exhibitions, science demonstrations, hands-on workshops, the Nuclear Exploration Mission, STEM Challenge, Rehlah Sains 2026, science performances, solar car workshops, science communication sessions, trivia quizzes and guided experiences at SSCiEX.
As of 30 July, the carnival had attracted more than 8,000 visitors, with attendance expected to grow as the MSN 2026 Sarawak Zone roadshow continues to Meradong on 3 August, Bintulu on 4 August and Belaga on 6 August.
MOSTI said the initiative reflects its commitment to promoting science, technology and innovation through inclusive community engagement while inspiring a new generation of scientifically literate, innovative and competitive Malaysians.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi (MOSTI), the ministry expressed appreciation to the Sarawak Government and all participating agencies and partners for supporting the successful organisation of the carnival. – The Capital Post
