KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno leader Khairy Jamaluddin is still tightlipped on which side he will support in the upcoming state elections.

Khairy, who was sacked from Umno in January, said he currently only planned to support his “friends” in the polls.

“I am unsure if I’ll be given a chance to speak at any election rallies but if there are any friends of mine contesting, I’ll certainly be paying them a visit.

“It just so happens that most of them now happen to be in Perikatan Nasional,” he said after a dialogue session with students at UCSI University here on Monday (July 10).

When asked which coalition he is likely to support, Khairy added that it would depend on the manifesto of the parties involved.

“My decision remains to be seen as we don’t have a full idea yet of the manifestos of either side,” he said.

Previously, on June 19, Khairy was reported to have given his backing to Perikatan in the upcoming state elections after a meeting with coalition chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
