TLDM hosts maritime dialogue on South China Sea security

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) through its Centre for Maritime Strategy and History (PUSMAS) organised the 2026 Distinguished Persons and Intellectuals Dialogue at Dewan Perkasa, Wisma Perwira ATM.

The dinner-style programme brought together senior officers from TLDM and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM).

The event was attended by Chief of Navy Admiral Tan Sri (Dr.) Zulhelmy Ithnain as the guest of honour.

The dialogue featured Maritime Affairs Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Datin Paduka Dr. Adina Kamarudin as the invited speaker, presenting on the topic “Safeguarding Maritime Sovereignty: South China Sea and Code of Conduct (COC)”.

Her session provided valuable insights into maritime affairs, South China Sea diplomacy, international law, maritime security and the importance of strategic approaches in addressing regional maritime challenges.

TLDM said the programme reflects its commitment to strengthening strategic knowledge-sharing, encouraging intellectual discourse and enhancing understanding of current maritime issues.

The platform also provided TLDM personnel with broader perspectives on evolving maritime security challenges and the role of diplomacy in safeguarding national interests within the maritime domain.
