PENANG, July 28, 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Works (KKR) has reviewed the progress of the Juru–Sungai Dua Traffic Dispersal Project (PTJSD) to ensure the strategic infrastructure initiative remains on track to improve traffic flow along one of Penang’s busiest highway corridors.
The 7th Special Project Steering Committee (Task Force) Meeting for the PTJSD was chaired by Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and Development) Datuk Dr. Khairus Masnan Abdul Khalid to coordinate project implementation and address current developments and outstanding issues.
The meeting was attended by Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) Director-General Ir. Mohd Hadzmir Yusoff, PLUS Malaysia Berhad Managing Director Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaafar, Penang Deputy State Secretary (Development) Dato’ Mohamed Abdul Rahman, senior ministry officials and representatives from the Penang state government.
Committee members reviewed the progress of key project components, including construction works, utility relocation, land management, procurement and project financing.
As of July 26, 2026, Package 1 had achieved 32.97% physical progress, compared with the targeted 34.87%.

To bring the project back in line with the approved work programme, PLUS Malaysia Berhad has implemented several mitigation measures, including accelerating construction at multiple locations simultaneously, carrying out works during weekends and deploying higher-capacity machinery to improve productivity.
KKR said it will continue working closely with LLM, PLUS Malaysia Berhad and other relevant agencies to ensure the project is delivered efficiently, enhancing traffic flow and improving travel comfort for motorists along Penang’s main transport corridor.
