Its implementation involves 67 bays on six streets in Shah Alam.

They are: Jalan Tengku Ampuan Zabedah D 9/D in Section 9, Jalan Pahat F 15/F in Section 15, Jalan Sepadu B 25/B in Section 25, Taman Sri Muda, Jalan Anggerik Vanilla N 31/N in Section 31, Kota Kemuning as well as Jalan Prima R U13/R and Jalan Prima F U13/F in Section U13, Setia Alam.

The parking rate for the bays designated under the system was RM1.20 per hour, up to a maximum of two hours.

Payment can be done through apps such as Smart Selangor Parking, Flexi Parking, GoPay, Jom Parking, Touch ‘n Go and Setel (some subject to integration by the app vendors).

MBSA said in a statement on Monday (June 26) that the move was in line with the gazettement of the Road Transport Order (Parking Space Allocation) MBSA (Amendment) 2023 for Two-Hour Parking.

For vehicles in the two-hour bays, no compound reduction would be given for offences such as not paying parking fees, exceeding the time limit, or paying the wrong parking fee.

MBSA’s move follows several local councils in Selangor that had already implemented a two-hour system, or hot zone parking, in certain sections of busy commercial areas to free up parking space in high-traffic streets, particularly near banks.
