Meta announced a new version of WhatsApp for Windows that can support group voice and video calls.

Users can now host video calls with up to eight people and audio calls with up to 32 people. Older versions of WhatsApp for Windows didn’t support group calls.
“We’ll continue to increase these limits over time so you can always stay connected with friends, family and coworkers,” Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, said in a statement on its website.
To try out the new feature, click on a contact to initiate an audio or video call, after which you’ll be able to add more participants to the conversation.
On group chats, clicking on the audio or video call symbol found at the top right-hand corner will initiate a call with every participant in the group.
However, the feature will not be enabled if the group has more than the allowed number of participants.

The company said that the new version comes with other improvements, such as better device linking and syncing across devices, as well as link previews and stickers.
The latest version of WhatsApp for Windows can be downloaded here. A new version for Mac desktops is currently in the early stages of beta, and Meta just introduced a new WhatsApp beta for Android tablets.
Recently, the company announced a new tool that gave admins more control over who gets to join a group.
Once the group’s invite link has been shared, an admin can accept or reject requests to join the group all in one place. – The Star
