Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said police met the parents on Thursday (Dec 7) night and added that others will be called in to have their statements recorded.

“We are focusing on this area first. It’s an ongoing investigation and it is too early to tell.

“We have also called in the person who originally found the body,” he said, adding that both parents were met to assist in the ongoing investigation at the Idaman Apartments on Friday (Dec 8).

ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin also said police will continue to check the scene of the crime until any positive leads are found.

A resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, said the route near where the body was found was hardly used and not many people knew about it.

“Even I am afraid to use that route because the area behind is filled with shrubbery.

“Since the incident, the children here have been afraid to play outside. Before, many would go to the nearby bridge to fish,” he said.

Zayn Rayyan was found dead about 34 hours after his reported disappearance.

His body was discovered in a river near his home at Idaman Apartments in Damansara Damai at about 10pm on Wednesday (Dec 6).
