MONTE CARLO 6 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – World No. 1 tennis star Carlos Alcaraz has expressed his enthusiasm about resuming competition on clay courts as he begins his 2026 clay-court campaign in Monaco ahead of the French Open.
Alcaraz, who secured his fifth Grand Slam title at Roland Garros last year and enjoyed a strong clay season in 2025, told reporters he relishes the challenges of playing on the slower surface and is keen to “get his socks dirty” once more after a period on hard courts.
The Spaniard’s schedule leading into the French Open includes several key clay tournaments designed to build momentum and fine-tune his game, with stops planned in Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid and Rome.

Alcaraz missed the Madrid Open last year due to injury but has since focused on maintaining peak physical condition as he targets another deep run at Roland Garros, where the main draw is set to begin later this month.
Reflecting on his career achievements, Alcaraz has already made history by completing a Career Grand Slam and continues to be a dominant force in men’s tennis as he seeks further success on clay this season. -The Capital Post
