KUALA LUMPUR 14 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will offer a 30% fare discount for its train services beginning April 15, in a move aimed at encouraging greater public transport usage and easing travel costs for passengers.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that the promotion will apply to selected KTM services, including Electric Train Service (ETS) routes, allowing commuters and intercity travellers to enjoy reduced ticket prices during the promotional period.
The initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to support affordable mobility while boosting ridership across KTMB’s rail network. Authorities said the discount is expected to benefit thousands of daily passengers, particularly those travelling for work, education, and festive or personal trips.
KTMB stated that the discounted fares will be available through official booking platforms, including its mobile application, website, and authorised ticket counters. Passengers are advised to check eligibility and applicable routes before purchasing tickets, as terms may vary depending on service type and travel dates.

The railway operator also highlighted that similar promotional campaigns in the past have helped increase train usage during peak travel seasons, reducing road congestion and supporting more sustainable transport choices.
Officials added that the timing of the discount aligns with broader government measures to ease the financial burden on households amid rising living costs and fluctuating fuel prices.
Further details on route coverage and booking instructions are expected to be released by KTMB in the coming days. -The Capital Post
