Johor smallholders get RM4mil boost under MSPO drive

Parit Sulong, 27 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) is stepping up efforts to strengthen sustainability practices among oil palm smallholders through the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification programme.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Perladangan dan Komoditi – KPK, Plantation and Commodities Minister YB Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad officiated the Batu Pahat District MSPO Strengthening Programme for Oil Palm Smallholders (Series 2), an initiative led by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) to enhance MSPO compliance and sustainable farming practices.

As of 15 June 2026, a total of 55,194 oil palm smallholders in Johor, covering 128,720.26 hectares, have obtained MSPO certification. Of the total, 15,641 smallholders in Batu Pahat account for 29,122.54 hectares under the certification scheme.

The programme also featured the presentation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) incentives, the opening of an MPOB Mobile Counter, and the announcement of RM4.028 million in funding for the implementation of 20 Smallholder Farm Road (JLPK) projects in Batu Pahat.

The initiatives are aimed at improving productivity, strengthening sustainability compliance, and enhancing the well-being of oil palm smallholders in the district.
