KOTA KINABALU, 29 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The implementation of the Sabah Pan Borneo Highway project remains under close scrutiny as the government intensifies efforts to ensure timely completion of key national infrastructure developments.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Kerja Raya Malaysia, the Steering Committee Meeting No. 6/2026 was chaired by Deputy Secretary-General (Policy & Development) Datuk Dr. Khairus Masnan Abdul Khalid, together with Sabah Ministry of Works and Utilities Permanent Secretary Datuk Ridhwan Roger Linus.

The meeting stressed that there would be no compromise in the delivery of rakyat-focused projects, with stronger enforcement of accountability and on-ground monitoring measures.

Current physical progress for the Sabah Pan Borneo Highway stands at 87.86% for Phase 1A, 19.76% for Phase 1B, and 27.36% for WP09. Of the 35 work packages, four have been fully completed, while seven packages are scheduled for completion this year.

The committee also emphasised that monitoring must go beyond office reporting, with officers directed to conduct regular and unannounced site inspections.

Officials were also reminded to adopt the “4M” concept — Man, Machine, Material and Method — alongside a stronger delivery culture based on urgency, responsibility, accountability and consistent follow-through.

The ministry reiterated that every sen of public funds must translate into tangible outcomes for the people of Sabah, particularly in improving road connectivity and regional development. – The Capital Post.
