PUTRAJAYA 3 August 2026, (The Capital Post) – Malaysia hosted a regional expert dialogue aimed at strengthening prevention efforts against trafficking in persons for forced criminality, bringing together 73 representatives from governments, United Nations agencies, international organisations, and survivor-led groups from 23 countries across Asia and Africa.
The two-day Expert Dialogue on Prevention Efforts Related to Trafficking in Persons for Forced Criminality, held on 21 and 22 July 2026 in Putrajaya, provided a platform for participants to exchange expertise, share effective practices, and enhance cooperation in addressing the growing cross-border challenge.
Discussions during the dialogue focused on key areas including prevention mechanisms, protection of trafficking survivors, deceptive recruitment methods, international cooperation, and the importance of incorporating survivor experiences into the development of policies and interventions.

The initiative was organised by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with appreciation extended to the Majlis Antipemerdagangan Orang dan Antipenyeludupan Migran (NSO MAPO) and the Ministry of Home Affairs Malaysia for their collaboration in making the dialogue possible.
The event received support from the United States Department of State and the Australian Department of Home Affairs, reflecting continued international commitment towards combating human trafficking and protecting vulnerable communities. – The Capital Post
