PUTRAJAYA, 16 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Works Ministry (KKR) is pushing Malaysia’s construction industry beyond conventional Building Information Modelling (BIM) towards the smarter and more integrated management of national assets.
The direction was highlighted during a keynote session at Malaysia BIM Day 2026: Putrajaya Digital Built on Tuesday (15 September).
Works Ministry Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Seri Azman bin Ibrahim delivered the keynote address titled “Beyond BIM: From Digital Models to Intelligent National Assets”.
The session focused on the industry’s transition from developing standard digital building models towards using technology for smarter, more efficient and holistic management and development of national assets.

The ministry said the approach reflects its direction towards ensuring Malaysia’s infrastructure development is supported by sustainable digital technologies and greater innovation.
The keynote also brought together industry practitioners and policymakers as part of efforts to advance digital transformation within the construction sector.
