PUTRAJAYA, 19 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia has launched the one-year countdown to the 34th SEA Games and 14th ASEAN Para Games, marking another milestone in preparations to host the two regional sporting events.
Deputy Youth and Sports Minister YB Mordi Bimol officiated the countdown ceremony at Menara KBS in Putrajaya, with Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah among those present.
Held under the theme “Raikan Perpaduan”, the event highlighted Malaysia’s preparations while calling on Malaysians to play their part in welcoming contingents from across ASEAN.
The ceremony also unveiled TUAH as the official mascot, representing the spirit and identity of the upcoming Games.

A special presentation introduced the four host locations that will serve as key venues for the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games — Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and Sarawak.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Communications Ministry, the countdown symbolises Malaysia’s preparations for the two regional sporting events and the collective effort needed to ensure their successful organisation. – The Capital Post
