PUTRAJAYA, 21 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia’s Gig Consultative Council (MPGig) convened its third meeting of 2026 today, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss policy development for the country’s gig economy, including income standards and payment structures.
The meeting in Putrajaya was chaired by MPGig Chairman YBhg. Datuk Dr. Mohd Gazali bin Abas.
Also present was Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA) Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and International), YBrs. Dr. Haji Mohd Shaharin bin Umar.
MPGig serves as a consultation platform bringing together stakeholders in the gig employment ecosystem, including the government, platform providers, worker representatives and other relevant parties.

Established under the Gig Workers Act 2025, the council supports discussions and policy development concerning the gig economy, including matters related to income standards and payment structures.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Human Resources Ministry, MPGig provides a platform for stakeholders to discuss issues and policies affecting Malaysia’s evolving gig employment ecosystem. – The Capital Post
