BINTULU, 22 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The RM135 million Medan Jaya Flyover project along Jalan Tun Hussein Onn has reached 89.05 per cent completion as work progresses to improve traffic flow around Bintulu.
Works Minister YB Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi inspected the 2.6-kilometre project site on Monday (21 September) to review its latest progress.
The project involves the construction and upgrading of roads to eight-lane and six-lane dual carriageways, as well as a four-lane, two-way flyover.
Improvement works are also being carried out at the Medan Jaya and Taman Tinggi intersections.

Once completed, the project is expected to help reduce congestion during peak hours, improve road safety and comfort, and shorten travel times around Bintulu.
Also present during the inspection were Works Ministry Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Seri Azman Ibrahim, Sarawak Public Works Department Director YBhg. Datu Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Dr. Cassidy anak Morris and the Public Works Department’s Senior Director of the Roads Branch.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Works Ministry, the ministry, through JKR Malaysia and JKR Sarawak, will continue monitoring the project with emphasis on quality, safety and traffic management. – The Capital Post
