PUTRAJAYA, 16 August 2021 (The Capital Post)- Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin handed over his letter of resignation to His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah at the Palace just now.

It came to light yesterday as post Prikatan Nasional leaders meeting at Publika that Muhyiddin will step down as Malaysia’s 8th Prime Minister after months of political turmoil.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who chaired the Special Cabinet meeting today morning with all his Ministers and Deputy Ministers before moving to Istana Negara to face the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.

The resignation of the Prime Minister followed the withdrawal of support by 15 UMNO MPs led by UMNO President, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi.

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation who is also the Coordinating Minister for National Immunisation Programme, YB Khairy Jamaluddin also confirmed the resignation of all cabinet members led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and thanked them for giving them the opportunity to serve Malaysia via his social media handle.

Muhiyddin Yassin became the 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia on 1st March 2020 after the political stalemate in Malaysia when Mahathir Mohamad resigned as Prime Minister on 24th February.

Muhyiddin Yassin goes into the records as the shortest serving Prime Minister of Malaysia which lasted only 17 months 16 days.-The Capital Post
