BUTTERWORTH, 18 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB), under the Ministry of Works (KKR), has launched CIS 33:2026 – Facility Management Good Practice Guide to strengthen governance and professionalism in Malaysia’s construction industry.

The guide was launched by Deputy Minister of Works YB Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Maslan during the Contractor Convention 2026: NexGen Builders – Pembina Generasi Baharu at PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena, Penang.

CIS 33:2026 provides a clearer, standardised and systematic framework for facility and asset management, incorporating international best practices including ISO 41001 for Facility Management, ISO 55001 for Asset Management and ISO 50001 for Energy Management.

The framework has been adapted to suit Malaysia’s local requirements and practices, supporting the aspirations of the National Construction Policy 2030 (NCP 2030), particularly in developing asset and facility management standards in the country.

Its implementation is expected to help the industry move from traditional maintenance approaches towards more strategic, performance-based, professional and sustainable asset management, including consideration of asset life-cycle costs.

Held in conjunction with International Construction Week (ICW) 2026, the convention also highlighted strategic developments and projects in the construction industry, including Construction Action Plan 2026–2030 (CAP30), Perlis Inland Port, the Mutiara LRT Project, sustainable construction and facility management.
