KUALA LUMPUR, 20 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia’s flagship cultural festival, Citrawarna 2026, is set to make its highly anticipated return to Merdeka Square from 24 to 26 July, bringing together performers and cultural practitioners from across the country in a vibrant celebration of the nation’s rich heritage and diversity.
Held in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), this year’s edition carries the theme “The Rhythm. The Soul. The Nation.” and aims to showcase the essence of Malaysia’s multicultural identity through immersive experiences, cultural performances and heritage-based activities.
First introduced in 1999, Citrawarna, also known as Colours of Malaysia, was established to promote the country’s arts, culture, heritage and natural attractions. Over the years, it has evolved into one of Malaysia’s premier cultural tourism events, attracting both domestic and international visitors.
This year’s festival will feature four signature experiences – Colours of Parade, Colours of Flavour, Colours of Culture and Colours of Art each designed to offer visitors a deeper appreciation of Malaysia’s diverse traditions.
Colours of Parade will showcase a spectacular cultural procession featuring contingents from across the country through music, dance and storytelling. Colours of Flavour will highlight Malaysia’s culinary heritage with traditional delicacies and authentic gastronomic experiences.
Meanwhile, Colours of Culture will present traditional performances, community activities and cultural expressions representing Malaysia’s diverse communities, while Colours of Art will feature local handicrafts, creative exhibitions and live demonstrations by artisans.
A major highlight of the three-day celebration will be the Colours of Parade on 25 July, where performers from across Malaysia will transform Merdeka Square into a vibrant stage celebrating unity, creativity and national identity through music, movement and storytelling.
