KUALA LUMPUR, 14 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — The Ministry of Communications and the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) are exploring strategic cooperation opportunities to strengthen digital infrastructure and boost the creative economy within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
According to information shared on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Komunikasi, Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah received a courtesy visit from IRDA federal commissioner Nor Hisham Mohd Yusof at Menara Komunikasi today.
The meeting discussed potential collaboration in attracting high-impact investments to the JS-SEZ through the enhancement of digital infrastructure and the development of intellectual property (IP)-based creative industries.
Both parties also discussed efforts to strengthen the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) through PUSPAL as a one-stop centre (OSC) for the entry of international artistes, film crews and foreign filming activities.
The session also welcomed the government’s decision through the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) to mainstream the creative industry through the establishment of the Orange Economy Council.
The initiative is expected to provide opportunities for IRDA to contribute input on developing the orange economy ecosystem, particularly in attracting foreign investments through suitable action plans and incentives.
