When met outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters on Monday (Sept 18), Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said he and nine others, including three lawyers, were among those who gave statements to police.

“They asked about the report I lodged as well as an explanation about the rally itself. From what I have heard, several others have also been called to provide their statements, including T-shirt vendors there on the day,” he told reporters.

He said the rally on Sept 16 was peaceful without untoward incidents.

“There were no clashes with police, no property damage nor any vehicles overturned,” he said.

He added that the Peaceful Assembly Act allows for the public to gather to have their voices heard.

It was reported that police have identified 25 persons of interest at the “Save Malaysia” rally who will be called in to have their statements recorded.

The gathering on Saturday saw hundreds march in Kuala Lumpur to protest the discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) granted to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi over graft charges.

At a press conference on Saturday, Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said that the rally failed to comply with the provisions of the Peaceful Assembly Act and that police had identified all persons of interest in connection with the rally.
