PUTRAJAYA 28 July 2026, (The Capital Post) – Education and economic reforms remain key pillars in strengthening Malaysia’s competitiveness as the country moves forward in an era of rapid technological advancement, particularly with the growth of artificial intelligence (AI).
During his address to the Ministry of Education (MOE) personnel today, Prime Minister and Finance Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised that education serves as the foundation of national progress and plays a crucial role in preparing Malaysia to remain resilient and competitive in the global landscape.
He called on parents, teachers and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) to work together in equipping the younger generation with the knowledge, skills and values needed to face future challenges. He also highlighted the important role of educators in shaping students’ character while strengthening proficiency in Bahasa Melayu as the national language and encouraging mastery of other languages to enhance communication abilities and graduate employability.
Meanwhile, during an address to Ministry of Finance personnel, Finance Minister II YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan stressed that fiscal reforms are essential to ensuring every ringgit of public funds is managed more efficiently, transparently and effectively for the benefit of the people.

He said targeted subsidy initiatives, including BUDI MADANI Diesel, have created greater fiscal space that allows the government to reinvest savings into national priorities such as education, healthcare and development. At the same time, initiatives such as BAKAT MADANI, support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and the implementation of e-Invoicing continue to strengthen talent development, improve productivity and enhance the country’s economic competitiveness.
The government’s efforts to empower education and implement effective economic reforms are expected to contribute towards building a stronger and more resilient economy while producing a knowledgeable, skilled and competitive future generation.
The meeting between YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Ministry of Education personnel at the Auditorium of Complex E, Putrajaya, was also attended virtually by Ministry of Finance personnel, reflecting the government’s continuous commitment to strengthening synergy between education transformation and economic reforms for national prosperity. – The Capital Post
