TAWAU, 28 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Human Rights, Elections and Institutional Reform conducted a working visit and inspection of waters around Tawau, Sabah, to observe security and defence operations in the area.
The visit, held from 25 to 29 August 2026, began at the Marine Police Force jetty before the delegation proceeded through the waters via Sungai Melayu towards Sungai Nyamuk Port.
The delegation also inspected areas involving Malaysia-Indonesia border demarcation issues and assessed the security situation in water settlements extending towards Batu 3 and Batu 4.

The delegation subsequently undertook a guided visit to the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex and Tawau Port to gain an understanding of operations, control measures and the management of entry and exit activities in the area.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), the working visit provided the committee with an opportunity to observe security operations and conditions in Tawau’s border and maritime areas. – The Capital Post
