PEKAN, PAHANG, 28 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – Higher Education Minister Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir witnessed the handover of the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) for Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA)’s new Convocation Hall and officially opened its Automotive Teaching Factory during a visit to the university.
The CCC was handed over by Senior General Manager of the JKR Pahang Project Team, Ir. Ts. Adnan Biladin, to UMPSA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, marking the completion of the new facility.
The hall, which began construction in March 2023, can accommodate up to 3,500 people at a time and is equipped to host convocation ceremonies, conferences, seminars and other large-scale programmes.
The Kembara KARISMA Pemimpin Muda MADANI Zon Timur, held the previous day, became the first programme hosted at the new hall.
The facility further strengthens UMPSA’s infrastructure and supports its role as a higher education institution specialising in technology, engineering and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), while providing space for academic activities and engagement with the community and industry.
During the visit, Dr. Zambry also officially opened the Automotive Teaching Factory and conducted an official working visit to the Automotive Engineering Centre and Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA), UMPSA.
He was briefed on developments in mechanical and automotive engineering technologies, including internal combustion engines (ICE), hybrid systems, electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous technology and aerospace.

The minister also viewed research and innovation products involving ICE-Hybrid-EV technologies, as well as FTKMA research facilities including the Dyno Engine Laboratory, EV Laboratory and EV Charger facilities.
The developments highlight UMPSA’s efforts to strengthen research and innovation in automotive technology in line with industry requirements.
The CCC handover and FTKMA visit were held in conjunction with Kembara KARISMA Pemimpin Muda MADANI Zon Timur, organised by the Academy of Higher Education Leadership (AKEPT) in collaboration with UMPSA.
Also present were Director-General of the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education Dr. Shamsuri Abdullah, UMPSA Board of Directors chairman Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar, and AKEPT director Prof. Dr. Harshita Aini Haroon.
