IIUM Strengthens Ties with Higher Education Ministry

PUTRAJAYA, 29 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), led by its Rector, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar, paid a courtesy visit to Higher Education Ministry Secretary-General YBhg. Datuk Ts. Dr. Hj. Aminuddin Hassim to congratulate him on his appointment and strengthen strategic cooperation between the ministry and the university.

The visit also served as a platform to introduce IIUM’s top management team and their respective portfolios, while providing updates on the university’s latest developments, including preparations for the onboarding of its new Board of Governors.

Discussions covered governance, the university’s mandate and strategic direction, as well as efforts to enhance institutional excellence.

The IIUM delegation also briefed the Secretary-General on the university’s financial position, development needs and strategic priorities requiring the ministry’s support to ensure the sustainable implementation of higher education initiatives.

During the meeting, Aminuddin shared his views, guidance and aspirations for IIUM, particularly on strengthening governance, advancing institutional development and fostering closer collaboration between the ministry and the university to drive excellence in Malaysia’s higher education sector.
