ISKANDAR PUTERI, May 15, 2026 (The Capital Post) — Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) continues to strengthen its strategic cooperation with the Johor State Government to ensure the higher education agenda, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), aligns with regional development needs.
According to information shared on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi, the matter was discussed during a courtesy visit by Higher Education Minister, Zambry Abdul Kadir, to Johor Menteri Besar, Onn Hafiz Ghazi, at Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) in Iskandar Puteri yesterday.
The visit focused on the presentation of higher education policies, strategic collaborations, and the development of higher learning institutions in Johor.
During the session, Director-General of Higher Education, Azlinda Azman, presented the Malaysia Higher Education Blueprint (RPTM) 2026–2035, which focuses on producing holistic, competitive graduates who are prepared to face future challenges.
According to Zambry, Johor is among the leading states in talent development efforts, becoming the first state in Malaysia to establish the JTDC, a model that could potentially be replicated in other states.

Information on higher education institution development projects in Johor was also presented. Under the First Rolling Plan (RP1) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) for 2026, a total of 47 development projects involving public universities, polytechnics, and community colleges across Johor were approved with an allocation amounting to RM418.2 million.
Out of the total, 22 new projects were approved, involving two polytechnic projects, three community college projects, and 17 public university projects.
Several public universities also presented their project and programme plans, including Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, and International Islamic University Malaysia.
Also present during the visit were Johor Education and Information Committee chairman, Aznan Tamin; KPT Secretary-General, Aminuddin Hassim; Deputy Secretary-General (Policy), Ahmad Rizal Adnan; JPPKK Director-General, Dr. Shamsuri Abdullah; vice-chancellors of public universities; as well as delegations from both the ministry and the Johor State Government. – The Capital Post
