PUTRAJAYA, 23 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) has reaffirmed its support for initiatives that expand sustainable employment opportunities and workplace support for persons with disabilities (PwDs).
Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri said employers play an important role not only in opening employment opportunities to PwDs, but also in providing the support needed for them to build long-term careers.
She highlighted AEON Company (M) Berhad’s Able for Disable programme, implemented in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) and Department of Development of Persons with Disabilities (JPOKU), as an example of efforts to promote a more inclusive workplace culture.
Under the programme, 171 AEON employees with disabilities and 122 company leaders underwent training focused on communication, self-confidence, disability awareness, leadership and workplace support.

Participants who completed the AEON 2026 Introduction to Job Coach Course were also recognised during the programme’s closing ceremony on 22 September.
KPWKM said the initiative is in line with its agenda to strengthen employment support for PwDs, enabling them to adapt to workplace requirements, perform their responsibilities more effectively and remain in employment.
Other initiatives implemented by JKM and JPOKU include skills training at Pusat Latihan Perindustrian dan Pemulihan (PLPP), Disability Equality Training (DET), Bengkel Daya, community-based rehabilitation services, advocacy and capacity-building programmes.
The ministry stressed that the participation of PwDs should be viewed as a matter of rights and equality in national development, while encouraging more quality employment opportunities to be made available nationwide.
