KUALA LUMPUR 3 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia’s Transport Minister Anthony Loke has assured that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is expected to have minimal impact on the development of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link connecting Johor Bahru and Singapore.

Loke explained that project timelines and supply chains for construction materials remain largely unaffected despite global geopolitical tensions. He emphasised that both Malaysia and Singapore continue to maintain strong coordination to ensure the RTS Link progresses smoothly.

The minister added that contingency measures are in place to mitigate any potential disruptions caused by international market fluctuations. These include sourcing alternative suppliers and closely monitoring costs to prevent delays or budget overruns.

Loke also highlighted that the RTS Link is a high-priority bilateral project designed to enhance cross-border connectivity and economic activity. With construction moving forward steadily, authorities expect key milestones, such as track laying and station development, to remain on schedule.

Industry stakeholders welcomed Loke’s reassurance, noting that the RTS Link is a critical transport infrastructure that will benefit commuters, trade, and tourism between the two countries.
