Malaysia, Finland Strengthen Healthcare Cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia and Finland have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing healthcare innovation and international collaboration following a bilateral meeting between representatives of both countries at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Deputy Minister of Health YB Dato Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib attended the meeting with a Finnish delegation led by Laura Rissanen, State Secretary (Deputy Minister) for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Ministry of Social Security of Finland.

According to a Facebook post by Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia, the engagement reflected the strong friendship between the two nations and their shared commitment to fostering innovation within the healthcare sector through greater international cooperation and knowledge exchange.

The discussions provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange expertise across various healthcare disciplines, strengthening collaboration in areas that could contribute to improved healthcare delivery and public well-being.

From the Malaysia MADANI perspective, the ministry said the meeting underscored the government’s commitment to building strategic global partnerships aimed at enhancing the nation’s healthcare system and improving the quality of care for the rakyat.

The Finnish delegation included Deputy Director for International Affairs Outi Kuivasniemi, Director of Public Health at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare Otto Helve, and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Finland in Kuala Lumpur Maiju Lepomäki.

Representing Malaysia were Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council Chief Executive Officer Suriaghandi Suppiah, Deputy Undersecretary of Policy and International Relations Dr. Ainul Nadziha Mohd Hanafiah, Disease Control Division Director Dr. Noraryana Hassan, Digital Health Division Deputy Director Dr. Shaifuzah Ariffin, and Medical Device Authority Senior Director of International Relations and Industry Division Norlela Hatta@Antah.
