PUTRAJAYA, 11 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – Bilateral relations between Malaysia and Japan continue to be strengthened through a courtesy visit by H.E. Noriyuki Shikata, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Malaysia, to the Minister of Home Affairs at the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN).
The meeting reflected both countries’ commitment to further strengthen strategic relations and cooperation, particularly in security and maritime affairs, which are areas of mutual interest.
Both sides also exchanged views on issues of common interest, particularly maritime cooperation and Japan’s travel advisory concerning the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone).
The Malaysian delegation included KDN Secretary-General YBhg. Datuk Dr. Awang Alik bin Jeman; Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) Deputy Director-General (Logistics) YBhg. Vice Admiral (M) Datuk Saiful Lizan bin Ibrahim; Security and Public Order Division Secretary YBhg. Datuk Zulkifli bin Abidin; and International Division Secretary Encik Mohd Azlan bin Razali.

KDN remains committed to strengthening international cooperation and strategic relations with international partners to safeguard national security, public well-being and national interests.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Dalam Negeri (KDN), kementeriandalamnegeri, the visit also highlighted the importance of security and maritime cooperation between Malaysia and Japan. – The Capital Post
