MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said that the recent spike in cases indicated the possibility of a resurgence in numbers recorded daily.

“To contain the spread of this outbreak, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has directed all MCA/Youth/Wanita divisions to postpone their divisional annual general meetings from the earlier scheduled dates in October 2020 until further notice.

“The president hopes that the party leaders at all levels will closely monitor all developments related to the pandemic, and regularly remind relatives, friends and people around to stringently practise all the standard operating procedures stipulated by the Health Ministry.

“This is in addition to undertaking the role as ‘frontliners’ in fighting the contagion together.

“Such endeavours will assist our country towards achieving the goal of zero infection as soon as possible,” he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 2).

On Thursday (Oct 1), Umno also announced that its divisional meetings have been postponed immediately.

This includes Wanita, Youth and Puteri meetings at division level. -The Star
