According to information shared on the official Facebook page of Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia, the awards are organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and recognise outstanding ICT-driven initiatives that contribute towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

MCMC said Malaysia’s participation aligns with this year’s WSIS theme of leveraging information and communication technologies (ICTs) to accelerate sustainable development and build a more inclusive digital future.
