SHAH ALAM, 23 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), together with Daikin Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. and Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC), successfully organised the MIDA–Daikin Supply Chain Programme (Awareness Session) to help Malaysian suppliers and SMEs strengthen their competitiveness within global manufacturing supply chains.
Held at SHRDC in Shah Alam on 21 May 2026, the programme gathered over 100 participants, including Daikin ecosystem partners, local SMEs, financial institutions and government agencies. The session focused on supplier requirements, smart manufacturing, digital transformation and financing support aimed at helping Malaysian businesses scale and meet multinational industry standards.
MIDA Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, said integrating Malaysian SMEs into global value chains is essential for sustaining the country’s industrial competitiveness. He noted that targeted vendor development programmes could help local companies become trusted partners in international supply chains while creating better jobs, encouraging technology adoption and expanding opportunities in higher-value economic activities.
SHRDC Executive Director, Ms. Teh Sook Ling, highlighted the importance of talent development in driving industrial transformation and future readiness. She said SHRDC continues to champion a people-first strategy through its “Leading Transformation Through Training” approach while strengthening collaboration between industry players, policymakers and technology partners through the SINERGI platform.

Meanwhile, Daikin Malaysia Vice President of Procurement, Ms. Ho Much Jia, said the collaboration with MIDA and SHRDC reflects the company’s commitment to supporting local suppliers in enhancing their capabilities, accelerating digital transformation and adapting to evolving industry demands. She added that stronger collaboration across the supply chain would help create a more resilient and sustainable manufacturing ecosystem.
The programme also featured presentations by representatives from MIDA, Daikin Malaysia, Daikin Electronics Devices Malaysia, SHRDC, Alliance Bank and industry players. Topics discussed included supplier requirements, sustainable supply chain development, smart manufacturing transformation and financing solutions for digitalisation. Participants were also given guided tours of SHRDC facilities to gain exposure to automation, digitalisation and Industry 4.0 technologies.
MIDA said the initiative aligns with its broader efforts to strengthen domestic supply chain capabilities and increase local participation in high-value industries through programmes such as the Supply Chain Programme, Grow Local Great initiative, Enterprise Growth Platform (EGP) and the #InvestLokal campaign. – The Capital Post
