KUCHING, 31 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) reaffirmed its commitment to making science and technology accessible to all through the STEM Camp MOSTI 2026, held at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendidikan Khas (SKPK) Kuching, Sarawak.
The programme was attended by MOSTI Secretary-General Datuk Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu and Deputy Secretary-General (Science Planning and Culture) Dato’ Ruziah Shafei. They were joined by Ministry of Education Special Education Division Deputy Director of Instructional Development Puan Solehah Misron and SKPK Kuching headmistress Puan Rosnah Jali.
During the visit, the delegation toured activity stations and interacted with participants and facilitators involved in the programme.
A total of 113 special needs students took part in a range of interactive and hands-on STEM activities, including the ‘Pengembaraan Dunia Nuklear’ storybook presentation, Braille exhibition, Nuclear Advocacy Programme, Planet VR, astronomy modules, stomp rockets, solar observation sessions and aerobics.

The programme was organised by the SKPK Kuching Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) in collaboration with MOSTI’s STI Culture and Services Division, the National Planetarium, National Science Centre, Malaysian Nuclear Agency, Bioeconomy Corporation and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
MOSTI said the initiative aims to promote inclusive access to science, technology and innovation (STI), while nurturing interest in STEM and encouraging young people to become future innovators.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi (MOSTI), the programme reflects the ministry’s commitment to expanding STEM education opportunities for all Malaysians, including students with special educational needs. – The Capital Post
