KUALA LUMPUR, 20 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Nearly 300 participants gathered for the second series of the Kelab Perempuan Membaca programme, which placed women’s contributions to history and the role of reading in shaping leadership at the centre of discussion.
Education Minister YB Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek officiated the programme themed “Perempuan Dalam Sejarah” at the Sunken Garden, MyTown Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur, on Saturday (19 September).
Organised by Perbadanan Kota Buku, the session brought together women leaders, community figures, writers, academics, book industry practitioners and book enthusiasts.
Malaysia’s 13th National Laureate Datuk Dr. Zurinah Hassan also attended the programme alongside 30 students from SMK (P) Pudu.

The initiative highlighted reading as a means of broadening perspectives, building confidence and encouraging women to take an active role in driving change.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Education Malaysia, the programme provided a platform for discourse on women in history while encouraging a stronger reading culture among participants. – The Capital Post
