New Covid-19 deaths up slightly to 117

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 117 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, according to its GitHub database, up from 76 the day before.

Of the total, 16 were classified as brought-in-dead (BID). The death toll now stands at 26,876.

Most of the fatalities were recorded in Sarawak with 21 deaths, followed by Perak and Selangor (14 each), Kelantan (11), Kedah (eight), Terengganu (five), Pahang and Kuala Lumpur (four each), Melaka (two) and Negeri Sembilan and Penang (one each).

There were no deaths reported in Labuan and Putrajaya.

As of midnight, there were 135,945 active cases, including 846 in intensive care units (ICU), 441 of whom required respiratory assistance.

There were also 15,615 recoveries reported.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 2,294,457.-FMT
