PUTRAJAYA, 26 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) is strengthening coordination and enforcement efforts to address outstanding issues involving environmental and natural resource laws.
Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Syed Ibrahim bin Syed Noh chaired the ministry’s Special Enforcement Task Force Meeting No. 5/2026 in Putrajaya on Friday.
The meeting focused on improving the effectiveness of enforcement agencies under NRES and accelerating action on unresolved enforcement matters through more targeted measures.
It also reviewed efforts to standardise reporting on complaints and investigations, strengthen coordination between agencies and relevant parties, and develop strategic recommendations for the NRES Minister.
The ministry said the task force plays an important role in ensuring enforcement issues are addressed through coordinated action while providing clear information on the status of complaints and investigations.

NRES said the meeting reflects its continued commitment to ensuring environmental and natural resource laws are enforced firmly, effectively and in an integrated manner.
Also present were Deputy Secretary-General (Natural Resources) Dato’ Khalid bin Mohamed and representatives from the Environmental Management Division, Biodiversity and Forestry Management Division, Mineral and Geoscience Division, Department of Environment, Department of Wildlife and National Parks, Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia, Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia and Strategic Planning and International Relations Division.
