PERDA, UCAM Explore Strategic Collaboration in Skills Development and Entrepreneurship

KEPALA BATAS, 21 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA) has received a courtesy visit from a delegation of Kolej Universiti Agrosains Malaysia (UCAM) to explore potential strategic collaborations focused on skills development, research and entrepreneurship.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Lembaga Kemajuan Wilayah Pulau Pinang, the delegation was led by UCAM chief executive officer Kamarudin Ani and welcomed by PERDA general manager Dato’ Mohd Asri Baharum together with the agency’s senior management team.

The bilateral meeting centred on identifying high-impact collaboration opportunities across four key areas, including competency development and professional executive training programmes for PERDA employees and participants under its initiatives.

Discussions also focused on strengthening academic collaboration as well as research and development (R&D) efforts, particularly in exploring pathways for continuing education and credit transfer arrangements involving Institut Kemahiran Tinggi PERDA (PERDA-TECH).

Both parties further explored initiatives aimed at enhancing entrepreneurship development and business incubation programmes, with a focus on empowering micro-entrepreneurs and home-based enterprises within local communities.

In addition, the meeting examined opportunities for strategic investments in socio-economic projects that could generate sustainable economic returns while delivering positive social impact.

The engagement reflects ongoing efforts by PERDA and UCAM to foster strategic partnerships that support talent development, entrepreneurship growth and community empowerment in line with broader regional development objectives. – The Capital Post
